Becky Smith age 65. Becky Sue (Newman) Smith was born June 8, 1958, in McCook, NE to James Alvin and Karen Ray (Holcomb) Newman. Becky died September 5, 2023, at Hospice House in Omaha.
Becky graduated high school in 1976 in Stamford. She worked at BD in Holdrege for seven years until she met her husband, Kendell Weye Smith. They married on August 26, 1983.
Two sons were born to this union Shay Weye Smith and Tucker Eli Smith.
Becky worked as a CNA in different nursing homes until moving to Broken Bow in 1996. She then went to work for BD in Broken Bow. She worked there for 24 years until she become ill with small cell lung cancer in 2022.
She received cancer treatments at the Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha.
Becky is survived by her loving husband Kendell Smith, sons Shay Smith and Tucker Smith, brothers Samuel Claude (Kelly Ann Merksick) Newman of Council Bluffs, IA and James Alvin Newman, Jr. of Stanton.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents James Alvin Newman and Karen Ray (Holcomb) Newman, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be Friday, September 15, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Stamford Cemetery in Stamford, NE next Memorial Day. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at govierbrothers.com.
