Charlotte Amsberry age 95 of Ansley, NE passed away on January 19, 2026, at the Kinship Pointe Northridge in Kearney, NE.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Ansley
Community Church in Ansley, NE. The service will be livestreamed at govierbrothers.com. A private burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ansley Community Church, Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney, or the Ansley Rural Fire Department. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Charlotte Ann (Pester) Amsberry, born on September 14, 1930, was the daughter of John and Ina Bishop Pester. She was born and raised on their family farm near Arcadia, Nebraska.
After completing her elementary education at a country school, Charlotte moved to Ansley to live with her grandmother and attend high school. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1947.
Following her high school graduation, Charlotte married Horace Reed and they had four daughters: Barb, Betty, Pam, and Julie. In 1962, she married Richard Amsberry, who had two children, Steve and Debra. Together, they raised their six children.
Family, friends, community, and church were very important to her. She was baptized in the Ansley Methodist Church at 16 and remained an active member of the Methodist Church all her life. Charlotte’s home was always open to everyone. Charlotte worked at several bookkeeping jobs, served on several committees and boards, and could always be found volunteering and serving in her community. She could be found at most sporting activities for family or community. Charlotte and Dick enjoyed a variety of activities, including golf, square dancing, card playing, and travel. They had a cabin at Johnson Lake which they enjoyed for several years and shared with all.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters Barb & Jim Werkmeister (Kelly & Angie); Betty & Jeff Warren (Jamie & Jenny); Pam & John Petr (Doug, Ann, & Kari) and her 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick Amsberry, two sisters, one brother, three children Steve Amsberry, Julie Anderson, and Debra Einsphar, son-in-law Kevin Einsphar, and one granddaughter Patty Mostek.).
