Area teams competed at the UNK Class D indoor track meet today in Kearney. Among the area teams competing were Ansley/Litchfield, Twin Loup, Anselmo-Merna, SEM, and Sandhills/Thedford. Among the area highlights, the boys high jump was a strong event for the area. Destrey White and Colin Wright of Anselmo-Merna each cleared 6′ 2″ with White winning the event on the tie break criteria and Wright finished second. Justin Folkers of Twin Loup finished third in the event clearing 6′. Luke Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield was champion of the 60 meter hurdles in a winning time of 8.92 seconds. Oran Grint of Twin Loup was runner up in the boys long jump with an effort of 19′ 10″. Grint and Bailey finished in a tie for 2nd in the boys 400 with identical times of 55.37 seconds. Cohen Rohde of SEM was runner up in the boys shot put with an effort of 43′ 9.5″. Owen Cunningham of Ansley/Litchfield was runner up in the boys 200 in a time of 25.37 seconds. Trevor Duryea of Anselmo-Merna placed third in the boys triple jump. Anselmo-Merna won the boys 4×400 relay in a winning time of 3:57.03.
Top area girls’ highlights included Paizley Zutavern of Sandhills/Thedford fourth and LoReena Schauda of Twin Loup fifth in the 800. Kallan Cox of Sandhills/Thedford was fifth in the 60 meter dash. Rilyn Schledewitz of SEM was fourth in the 1600 and LoReena Schauda of Twin Loup was sixth. Ragan Mauler of Twin Loup fifth in the long jump. Haylee Dimmit of Sandhills/Thedford was 4th in the girls shot and Kerry Ryan of Ansley/Litchfield was fifth. Ryan was also sixth in the high jump. Ansley/Litchfield was fifth in the girls 4×800 meter relay and Twin Loup was fifth in the 4×400.
The UNK Indoor Invites continue Friday with the Class A/B meet followed by the B/C meet on Saturday.
