Three Teams Remain in Class B Senior Legion State Tournament

The Class B Nebraska American Legion seniors state baseball tournament being played at Paul Brown Field in Broken Bow is down to three teams.  Waverly eliminated Blair on Tuesday as they held on for a 7-6 win.  Blair, trailing 7-3 going to the 7th inning, scored 3 runs in their final bat but saw their comeback fall one run short.  Waverly was led by Drew Miller who had three hits including a homerun.  With the win, Waverly advances to the final day of the tournament on Wednesday where they will face Columbus Lakeview.  Lakeview stayed alive in the tournament by handing Hickman its first loss of the tournament 15-6.  Lakeview had a big third inning scoring seven runs then put the game away with five runs in the sixth.  Adam Van Cleave helped lead the way offensively for Lakeview going 2 for 4 with 5 RBI including a homerun.  So, the final day of competition on Wednesday will feature two games.  Waverly will play Columbus Lakeview at 1 pm with the winner advancing to play Hickman for a winner take all championship game.
