Broken Bow fell to Kearney Catholic Monday night at the C1-11 sub district volleyball tournament in Gothenburg 3-1. Kearney Catholic won the opening set 25-18 but Broken Bow fought back to tie the match winning set #2 25-16. Kearney Catholic then regained control winning the third set 25-12. After falling behind in set #4, Broken Bow fought back and had the set tied at 23-23 but Kearney Catholic scored the next two points to close out the set and match 25-23 in the fourth. Halle McCaslin had 7 kills to lead the Indians attack while Hannah Barker, Janae Marten, and Addison Ellis all finished with 6 kills. Broken Bow ends the season at 16-16. Kearney Catholic advances to the sub district final Tuesday night where they will face top seed Gothenburg who defeated Holdrege in straight sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-14.
Ansley/Litchfield advanced to the final of the D2-6 sub district tournament at Shelton. A/L defeated Elba in straight sets 25-5, 25-14, 25-14. The Lady Spartans will face Shelton in the sub district final as the top seed defeated Palmer in straight sets 25-11, 25-5, 25-9. The match is scheduled for Tuesday night at 6:30 and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
Anselmo-Merna advanced to the final of the D2-8 sub district tournament at Overton. AM defeated Medicine Valley 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 16-25, 25-15). The Lady Coyotes will face Overton in the sub district final. The top seed defeated Brady in straight sets 25-13, 25-8, 25-19. Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will plan to broadcast the match on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. The match is scheduled for Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
South Loup advanced to the final of the C2-11 sub district tournament at Bartley. South Loup defeated Southern Valley in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-21). The Lady Bobcats will face the top seed Southwest in the sub district final Tuesday. Southwest defeated North Platte St. Pat’s in straight sets 25-7, 25-20, 25-23.
Mullen and Sandhills/Thedford both fell at the D2-10 sub district tournament at Garden County. Mullen lost to Hyannis 3-2 ( 25-13, 14-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-7) and Sandhills/Thedford fell to Arthur County 3-2 (26-28, 12-25, 25-17, 25-14, 15-11).
SEM and Twin Loup will play for the D1-10 sub district title at SEM. SEM defeated Pleasanton in straight sets 25-17, 25-18, 25-15 and Twin Loup defeated Burwell in straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.
Arcadia/Loup City saw its season come to an end at the C2-9 sub district tournament at Amherst as the Lady Rebels fell to Wood River in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-19)
