State Wrestling Area Recap Day Two

The 2024 NSAA state wrestling championships wrapped up its second day of competition on Friday. Broken Bow qualified two wrestlers for the state finals on Saturday. Max Denson will wrestle for the 190 lb. championship on Saturday. Denson won by fall over Jackson Turner of Fillmore Central in the semifinals and will face Trent Moudry of Bishop Neumann for the championship on Saturday. Cal Wells advanced to the Class C finals at 215 lbs. Wells defeated Tucker Shabram of O’Neill in the semifinals by a 6-3 decision. Wells will face Jaret Peterson of Chase County in the finals on Saturday. It will be a rematch of last year’s 220 lb. Class C state championship match which Wells won.

Tyce Porter of Anselmo-Merna advanced to the championship match at 165 lbs. in Class D. Porter defeated Caleb Davis of West Holt in the semifinals by a 7-5 decision. Porter will face Taaron Lavicky of Axtell for the title.

Chase Gracey of Mullen advanced to the finals in Class D at 175 lbs. Gracey got by SEM’s Maddox Jones in the semifinals by a 6-3 decision. Gracey will face Wyatt Urkoski of High Plains Community for the title.

Brody Jensen of Burwell advanced to the Class D 106 lb. championship match. Jensen defeated Braxtin Fowler of Twin River by fall in the semifinals. Jensen will face Beau Johnson of Plainview in the championship match on Saturday.

Others from the area who advanced to the championship match of their weight class included Brock Malcolm of Cozad in Class B at 157 lbs.
