It’s day two of the NSAA state volleyball championships featuring Classes D1, D2, and C2.
SEM advanced to the Class D2 state semifinals with a straight set win over BDS 25-12, 25-21, 25-10. SEM hit .281 for the match led by Taryn Arbuthnot who had a match high 21 kills. SEM’s Kyler Jones also finished in double figures with 11 kills and Jacelyn Hoos had 9 kills and 20 assists for the Mustangs who collected their 27th win of the season. SEM will face Cambridge on Friday in the state semifinals. Cambridge defeated Mullen 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-16). Mullen was held to a .010 hitting percentage for the match. The Lady Broncos were led by Jenna and Hayley Donohoe who each finished with a team high seven kills and Brynne McCully finished with six kills as Mullen concludes its season at 20-11.
Friday’s D2 semifinal between SEM and Cambridge will take place at 11 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
Ansley/Litchfield saw its season come to an end on Thursday falling to Exeter-Milligan-Friend in the D1 state tournament quarterfinals 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-18). The EMF defense was outstanding holding Ansley/Litchfield to negative hitting for the match. A/L was led by Kiera Bailey who had a team high seven kills and Asia Lyon finished with five kills for the Spartans who were making their first state tournament appearance since 2016. Ansley/Litchfield concludes the season at 25-7. EMF advances to the state semifinals where they will face top seed Amherst on Friday morning.
