State Track Day Two – Area Recap

Day two of the NSAA state track and field championships took place Thursday featuring the final day of competition for classes A and B.

Klarissa Dowdy of Broken Bow claimed a state medal in the Class B girls 300 meter hurdles.  Dowdy placed 7th with a time of 46.35 seconds.  The event was won by Addison Darnell in a new state meet record time of 43.68.  Janae Marten of Broken Bow competed in the Class B girls shot put on Thursday.  Marten finished 14th overall at the state meet with a top effort of 35′ 11″.  The champion of the Class B girls shot put was Elle Heckenlively of Gretna with a winning effort of 42′ 11.5″.  Gunner Baltz of Broken Bow competed in the Class B boys discus.  The freshman’s best effort on the day was 136′ 9″ which was 20th best at the state meet.  The champion of the Class B boys discus was Noah Rau of Chase County who set a new state and state meet record with a throw of 203′ 9″.  Broken Bow’s Coy Wardyn competed in the Class B boys pole vault.  Wardyn entered the competition when the bar was raised to 13′ 6″ but was not able to clear the height on his three attempts.  Broken Bow competed in the Class B girls 4×400 meter relay.  The team of Aliya Myer, Klarissa Dowdy, Halle Quinn, and Maren Chapin posted a time of 4:07.27 which was 12th best.  The event was won by Bennington in a time of 3:52.69.

In other area notes, Boston Irish of Cozad repeated as the state champion in the Class B boys pole vault.  After winning the event in 2024 with an effort of 15′, Irish bettered that this year with a winning vault of 15′ 6″.  Chayden Hoffmaster of Cozad was a state medalist in the Class B boys long jump.  Hoffmaster placed 4th with an effort of 22′ 9.5″.  Noah Shoemaker of Cozad was a state medalist in the Class B boys discus.  Shoemaker finished 5th with an effort of 166′ 2″.  Cozad placed 5th in the Class B boys 4×100 meter relay.  The team of Boston Irish, Chayden Hoffmaster, Olliver Davis, and Bryson Snider posted a time of 42.81 seconds.  Bryson Snider of Cozad medaled in the Class B boys 100 placing 7th in a time of 10.89.  Gothenburg medaled in the Class B boys 4×400 meter relay.  The team of Tristan Koch, Evan Johnson, Bryson Neels, and Jonathan Davis placed 7th with a time of 3:25.07.
