State Football Playoff Scores 10/28

The Broken Bow Indians saw their football season come to an end Friday night as they fell to McCook in the opening round of the Class C1 playoffs 42-14.  The game started well for Broken Bow as they marched 75 yards on the opening drive of the game which consumed nearly 7 1/2 minutes and scored on a Connor Wells 3 yard touchdown to go in front 7-0.  The lead was short lived however as McCook scored three plays later to tie the game 7-7.  That began a run of 42 unanswered points for the Bison who pulled away in the second half for the win.  Broken Bow concludes the season at 5-5 overall.  McCook advances to the C1 quarterfinals where they will face Adams Central who defeated Platteview 29-14.

South Loup fell to top seed Howells/Dodge in round two of the Class D2 playoffs.  The Bobcats battled tough against the top ranked Jaguars.  Howells/Dodge jumped out to an 18-0 lead early but Trey Connell scored on a five yard touchdown run with 6:46 left in the 2nd quarter to cut the H/D lead to 18-6.  Howells/Dodge extended the lead to 26-6 at the half but South Loup put together and impressive drive to start the 3rd quarter as Trey Connell again scored from 5 yards out to bring the Bobcats back to within two possessions at 26-12.  That was as close as South Loup would get as Howells/Dodge scored twice in the 4th quarter to secure the win.  South Loup concludes the season at 6-4.

Central Valley knocked off the higher seed Sandhills/Thedford Friday night in the D2 playoffs.  After falling behind 6-0, S/T took the lead on a one yard TD run by quarterback Kyle Cox and a two point conversion to make the score 8-6.  Central Valley was able to answer on a one yard touchdown run by Ty Landers to regain the lead 14-6 which was the score at the half.  Central Valley extended the lead to 20-8 with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter.  Sandhills/Thedford scored in the 4th quarter on a 15 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Cox to Connor Cooksley and converted on the two point conversion to make it a four point game but that would be as close as the Knights would get as Central Valley was able to hang on for the win.  S/T concludes its season at 8-2 overall.

In other area scores, Twin Loup fell just short against Wynot in the D2 playoffs.  Wynot edged the Wolves 34-28.  Twin Loup concludes the season at 7-3.  SEM advanced to the quarterfinals in the six man playoff bracket.  The top seeded Mustangs ran away from Wallace 77-31.  SEM will face Shelton in the quarterfinals as Shelton defeated Sterling 65-20.
