The 2025 NSAA state cross country championships took place today at the Kearney Country Club and golf course.
Recapping some of the area highlights. Ashlyn Schauda represented Broken Bow in the Class C girls competition. Schauda finished in the top 30 of the state placing 26th overall in a time of 20:49.4. The Class C girls individual champion was Scout Bell of Gothenburg with a winning time of 19:16.4. The Class C girls team champion was Chase County.
The Class D girls team champion was McCool Junction and the Class D girls individual champion was Avery Arens of Crofton with a winning time 17:29.
Jalise Bush of Burwell and Riley Hegland of Mullen each placed in the top 50. Bush was 42nd (21:24.7) and Hegland was 48th 21:34.3. Lena Spencer of Burwell finished in the top 60 placing 59th (21:53.7).
The Class D boys team champion was Doniphan Trumbull. The Class D boys individual champion was Kaser Johnson of Doniphan-Trumbull with a winning time of 15:42.5. Dutch Miller of Arcadia/Loup City was a state medalist placing in the top 15. Miller was 15th with a time of 16:57.6. Connor Sutton of Sandhills/Thedford finished in the top 30 placing 27th (17:30.8). The South Loup boys qualified for state as a team and finished 13th in the team standings. The Bobcats were led by Jaden Baker and Walter Bierman who both placed in the top 60. Baker was 41st (17:51.9) and Bierman was 54th (18:18.4). Braylon Kuncl of Mullen placed in the top 60 finishing 53rd (18:16.8).
The Class C boys team champion was Lincoln Christian. Gothenburg finished 5th in the boys standings. The Swedes medaled two runners in the top five. Tyler Hetz was the state runner up (16:05.8) and Bryson Neels was third (16:24.3). The Class C boys individual champion was Trevin Opp of Lincoln Christian in a winning time of 15:59.9. Koang Deng of Cozad was a state medalist. Deng finished 10th with a time of 16:41.7.
Other state results, the Class B girls team champion was Elkhorn North and the individual champion was Cecilia Kramper of Omaha Duchesne in a time of 17:55.7. The Class B boys team champion was Lincoln Pius and the individual champion was David Krier of Pius in a winning time of 15:26.2. The Class A girls team champion was Omaha Marian and the individual champion was Emily Hegge of Papillion La Vista South in a time of 18:24.5. The Class A boys team champion was Creighton Prep and the individual champion was Josiah Bitker of Lincoln North Star in a winning time of 15:45.1.
