The bracket has been released for the Southwest Conference girls and boys basketball tournaments which begin next week. Ogallala is the top seed in both the girls and boys brackets. Broken Bow is the #5 seed in the girls tournament and the #6 seed in the boys tournament. Opening round games will be played on Tuesday January 27th.
The Broken Bow girls will open play against Minden on the road in the opening round. The two met back in December with Minden winning 52-27. The winner will advance out to the semifinals where they will face the top seed Ogallala who receives a bye in the first round. Gothenburg is the #2 seed on the girls bracket and will host #7 seed Cozad in the first round. Holdrege is the #3 seed and will host the #6 seed McCook in the opening round.
The Broken Bow boys will open conference tournament play at #3 seed Gothenburg in the opening round. The winner will advance to the semifinal round where they will play the winner of (#2) Cozad vs (#7) Holdrege. A preview of next week’s conference tournament game between Broken Bow and Gothenburg will take place this Thursday when the two meet in their regular season matchup. McCook is the #4 seed in the boys tournament and will host #5 seed Minden in the first round with the winner advancing to play the top seed Ogallala who receives a bye in the first round.
First round consolation games will be played on Thursday (1/29) at yet to be determined sites. The girls and boys semifinals will be played at North Platte Community College on Friday (1/30). Third place consolation and championship games will be played at NPCC on January 31st.
