South Loup Wins MNAC Volleyball Tournament

South Loup claimed the 2021 Mid Nebraska Activities Conference volleyball tournament championship on Saturday at North Platte Community College.  The Lady Bobcats faced Arthur County in the semifinals.  South Loup advanced to the championship with a straight set win 25-16, 25-16, 25-20.  South Loup would face Twin Loup in the championship match.  The Wolves advanced to the title by knocking off the top seed Anselmo-Merna in the semifinals.  The match went four sets and featured two of the most exciting sets of the day.  Twin Loup won the opening set 25-19.  Sets 2 and 3 each went extra points with AM winning the second 30-28 and Twin Loup winning the third 28-26.  As Twin Loup was closing in on a victory in set four, AM made a furious comeback which fell just short as Twin Loup won in the fourth set 25-23.  The championship match went the distance.  Twin Loup defeated South Loup in the first set 25-20.  South Loup came back strong to win the second set 25-13 and held on to win the third 25-22.  Twin Loup would then tie the match coming back strong in the fourth set to win 25-15.  The fifth set went back and forth with South Loup winning 15-11 to claim the championship.

Anselmo-Merna def. Arthur County in the third place consolation match 25-16, 25-21, 25-14.

Sandhills Valley def. Cody Kilgore in the fifth place consolation match 25-20, 25-14 .

Mullen def. Sandhills/Thedford in the seventh place consolation match 2 sets to none
