
South Loup claimed both the girls and boys team titles Saturday at the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference basketball tournament Saturday at North Platte Community College. South Loup defeated Twin Loup in the girls championship game 49-31. South Loup outscored the Lady Wolves 13-2 in the second quarter and then held off Twin Loup in the second half to collect the win. South Loup was led by Lauryn Johnson who had a game high 15 points and Twin Loup was led by Kathryn Folkers who finished with a team high 11. South Loup has now won six in a row and 10 of their last 11 as they improve to 11-5 overall. Twin Loup drops to 11-6 overall.

South Loup defeated Mullen for the boys championship 50-39. South Loup jumped to an early 11-2 lead at the end of the first quarter but Mullen came back to cut the lead to 4 at halftime. South Loup outscored the Broncos 11-4 in the third quarter to build their lead to 11 going into the fourth. The teams played even in the final quarter as South Loup went 13 of 18 from the free throw line in the 4th to help secure the win. The Bobcats had three players finish in double figures led by Tre Connell who had 18, Joey Sallach had 13, and Cache Gracey finished with 10. Mullen was led by Clayton Moore who had a team high 14 points. South Loup is now 14-2 on the season as Mullen drops to 11-4.
In other action from the MNAC tournament on Saturday, Sandhills/Thedford def. Sandhills Valley in the girls consolation game 48-17. Dayle Haake finished with a game high 12 points to lead the Lady Knights and Sandhills Valley was led by Abigale Nicholson who had a team high 9. Sandhills/Thedford def. Hyannis in the boys consolation game 45-37. Sandhills/Thedford’s Brady Dahlberg finished with a game high 19 points and Wyatt Phillips finished with a team high 11 for Hyannis.
