South Loup Track Invite Recap

South Loup hosted its annual track and field invitational Friday in Arnold. Both team races were tight throughout the day. Mullen claimed the boys team title with 86 points followed by Ansley/Litchfield in second with 79 points and South Loup was one point behind in third with 78 points. South Loup won the girls team championship with 74 points. Sandhills/Thedford was 2nd with 67 points and Medicine Valley was third with 64 points just one point ahead of Mullen who finished with 63 points.

Among the area highlights, Luke Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield claimed four gold medals on the day. Bailey won the boys long jump (20’3″), the triple jump (42′ 4.75″), 110 meter hurdles (16.14) and 300 meter hurdles (41.99). Peyton Paxton of Mullen swept the girls distance races winning the 1600 (6:03.82) and the 3200 (12:35.71). Mieke Van der Walt of Burwell swept the girls hurdles winning the 100 meter hurdles (15.95) and the 300 meter hurdles (48.6). Others from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area that claimed gold included:
