South Loup fell just short of qualifying for the boys state basketball tournament as they dropped a heartbreaker to Plainview in the D1-8 district final 55-53.  The game was tight the entire way with no lead larger than six points.  Cache Gracey led the way for South Loup with a game high 19 points.  Trey Connell also finished in double figures for the Bobcats with 12 points while Dylan Pandorf and Joey Sallach each finished with nine.  South Loup concludes a great season at 16-6.

Anselmo-Merna fell to top ranked Shelton in the D2-1 district championship game.  AM battled tough against the top seed and was to within six in the latter half of the 2nd quarter but Shelton was able to extend the lead to 13 at the half and then pulled away in the 2nd half for 72-52 win.  Anselmo-Merna hit eleven 3’s in the game with six of them coming from Quinten Myers who finished with a team high 21 points.  Colin Cooksley also finished in double figures for the Coyotes with eleven.  Riley Bombeck of Shelton led all scorers with 22.  Anselmo-Merna concludes a great post season run and ends the year at 8-17 overall.
