Sid Miller of Merna and Dane Pokorny of Stapleton Claim All Around Honors at Opening High School Rodeos of Fall Season

The Nebraska High School Rodeo began its fall season this past weekend with rodeos at Bassett on Saturday and Sunday.  Among the area highlights, Sid Miller of Merna claimed the all around boys title on Saturday.  Miller teamed with Sid Druery of Anselmo to place 2nd in team roping and also secured a runner-up finish in the tie down roping.  Dane Pokorny of Stapleton was the boys all around champion on Sunday.  Pokorny placed 2nd in the steer wrestling on Sunday and teamed with Ty Growcock of Bartlett for a third place finish in the team roping.

Cooper Bass of Brewster won the boys cutting on both Saturday and Sunday.  Bass had a winning score of 73 during each performance.  Whitney Jennings of Seneca won the girls cutting on Saturday with a score of 71 and won the breakaway roping on Sunday in a time of 2.17 seconds.  Dawson Doggett of Stapleton won the steer wrestling on Saturday with a time of 4.01 seconds.
