SEM saw its season come to an end Wednesday at the girls state basketball tournament as the Lady Mustangs fell to top seed Ravenna in the state quarterfinals 51-37.
SEM fell behind by double digits in the 2nd quarter but fought back to get to within seven. However, Ravenna scored the final four points of the quarter to go up by eleven at halftime. The Bluejays quickly built a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter but SEM again fought back to cut the lead down to eight in the fourth quarter. Ravenna did not make a shot from the field in the 4th quarter but they did finish 9 of 12 from the free throw line in the final eight minutes to seal the win.
Ravenna was led by Tori Sklenar who finished with a game high 26 points. SEM had two players finish in double figures led by Taryn Arbuthnot who finished with a team high 17 points and Mikah O’Neill finished with 10. SEM concludes the season at 18-5. Ravenna improves to 25-2 and moves on the Class D1 state semifinals which will be played on Friday.
