Mullen and SEM will both try to qualify for the girls state basketball tournament today when they compete in the Class D2 district finals. Mullen will host the D2-4 district final. The Lady Broncos qualified for districts as the D2-12 sub-district champion and are the #4 seed. Mullen is 17-5 this season and advanced out of the D2-12 sub-district with wins over Hyannis and Crawford. Mullen will face Loomis who advanced to the district round by claiming the D2-7 sub-district title with wins over Wilcox-Hildreth and Bertrand. Loomis is now 13-11 on the season. Tonight’s game is scheduled for a 6:30 central time tip off. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. SEM is the #12 seed in the district round and will travel to face Cambridge in the D2-5 district final tonight. SEM is 12-9 and advanced to districts by claiming the D2-8 sub-district championship with wins over Twin Loup and Anselmo-Merna. Cambridge is 17-7 and advanced to districts as a wildcard after falling to Dundy County Stratton in the D2-9 sub-district title game. Tonight’s game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip off and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
The winners of tonight’s games will advance to the girls state tournament next week in Lincoln.
