The SEM Mustangs advanced to the Class D2 state semifinals Thursday with a thrilling 62-54 win over Osceola at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. SEM got off to a strong start and built a five point lead at half. Osceola regained the momentum in the start of the third quarter as they went on a 12-2 run and built a lead of 36-30. SEM came back with a strong response as they closed the third quarter on a 7-0 run to regain the lead at 37-36 heading into the final quarter. In the fourth, it was all about making free throws for the Mustangs. SEM went to the line 24 times in the final eight minutes and made 17 to seal the win. SEM was led by Jace Rosentreader who finished with a team high 24 points. Kellen Eggleston also finished in double figures with 11. Osceola was led by Isaiah Zelasney who finished with a game high 25 points. SEM improves to 21-5 and advances to the state semifinals where they will face top seed Wynot who got past Paxton on Thursday 57-47. Friday’s semifinal is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com
