Scott Frost FIRED as Nebraska Football Head Coach

Nebraska Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, Trev Alberts, announced on Sunday the firing of Scott Frost as Nebraska head football coach.  Alberts applauded Frost for his dedication to the Nebraska football program both as a former player and head coach.  Alberts said that “After the disappointing start to our season, I decided the best path forward for our program was to make a change in our head coaching position.”  Alberts announced that associate head coach and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2022 season.

Alberts said the search for a head coach will be a national search and the search will be done with “third party help”.  He also addressed why the decision to fire Frost was made now as opposed to later in the year or at the end of the season.

Alberts was asked about his expectations for the program moving forward.

Amidst all of this, Nebraska must prepare for one of its biggest games of the year as they welcome top ten ranked Oklahoma  to Memorial Stadium on Saturday.  The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM with coverage on the Huskers Radio Network beginning at 9 a.m.  Kickoff is scheduled for just after 11 a.m.
