The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference volleyball tournament concluded Saturday at North Platte Community College. Sandhills/Thedford was crowned champion. The Lady Knights championship journey began with a semifinal win over South Loup. Sandhills/Thedford won in straight sets 25-23, 25-16, 25-14. In the other semifinal match, Anselmo-Merna and Twin Loup battled through a five set thriller. Twin Loup would prevail 20-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12. That set up the championship between Sandhills/Thedford and Twin Loup. The Lady Knights started strong taking set 1 winning 25-12 and held off Twin Loup 25-17 in the 2nd set. Twin Loup would get things turned around in the third set winning 25-19 to extend the match. Sandhills/Thedford took the early lead in set 4 but Twin Loup kept fighting back and forced the set to go extra points. The Lady Knights had championship point at 24-23 and 25-24 but Twin Loup would win those points and had set point at 26-25 to extend the match. Sandhills/Thedford tied the set at 26-26 and would win the next two points to win 28-26 and claim the tournament championship.
