The 2022 NSAA state volleyball championships begin today at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. Classes A, B, and C1 will be featured. Competition begins this morning with the Class B state quarterfinals. Opening matches begin at 9 am featuring the top seed Elkhorn North against Northwest and #2 seed Omaha Skutt, in search of their eighth straight state title, will face Waverly. At 11 am, Bennington will face Seward in the 4/5 matchup and #3 seed Norris will face Sidney.
Class C1 will take the court this afternoon. The Southwest Conference, the conference Broken Bow competes in, has two representatives in the C1 field. Minden, the Southwest Conference champion and #2 seed, is 32-3 on the season and will face 29-3 DC West at 1 pm. After qualifying for the state volleyball tournament for the first time last season, Gothenburg returns to the tournament this year. The Lady Swedes are 31-3 this season and will face 31-2 Malcolm this afternoon at 3pm. The other C1 matchups today feature top seed North Bend Central against Adams Central and GICC will face Kearney Catholic.
Class A will be featured this evening and tonight. At 5 pm, top seed Papillion LaVista South will face Marian and #2 seed Lincoln Southwest will face Millard West. At 7 pm, Papillion LaVista takes on Lincoln East in the 4/5 matchup and #3 seed Westside goes up against Gretna.
Classes C2, D1, and D2 will be featured tomorrow.
