The Nebraska Schools Activities Association has released the official bracket and pairings for the 2022 NSAA boys state basketball championships. The Mullen Broncos are the #7 seed in Class D2. Mullen is making their third straight appearance at the state tournament and their fifth appearance in the last six years. The Broncos will face Falls City Sacred Heart in the state quarterfinals on Tuesday at Lincoln Southwest High School at 6 p.m. Mullen and FCSH have met one another in the last two state tournaments. Last year Sacred Heart edged Mullen 49-47 in the quarterfinals and back in 2020 Sacred Heart knocked off Mullen in the state semifinals. The winner will advance out to the state semifinals where they would play the winner of Hyannis vs Parkview Christian. All Mullen games from the state tournament will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.
Burwell is the #5 seed in the Class D1 boys tournament. The Longhorns will open against Elgin Public Pope John. The game will take place at Lincoln North Star High School with the winner advancing to the semifinals to face the winner of North Platte St. Pat’s vs Lourdes Central Catholic.
