The Nebraska Schools Activities Association has released the brackets and pairings for the girls state basketball tournament which runs March 4-7 in Lincoln.
The SEM Lady Mustangs qualified for state by winning the D2-5 district championship. SEM is the #7 seed in the Class D2 tournament. SEM will open play on Wednesday evening when they face #2 seed Red Cloud at the Devaney Center in Lincoln. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m. The winner will move out to the semifinals on Friday where they would face the winner of Falls City Sacred Heart and Wynot. All SEM games from the girls state tournament will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. On the other side of the D2 bracket, top seed Dundy County Stratton will face Loomis and Silver Lake will play Archangels Catholic.
Gothenburg is back at the state tournament after a thrilling one-point win over Columbus Scotus in the district finals. Gothenburg is the #5 seed in the Class C1 tournament and will face Southwest Conference rival Ogallala in the opening round on Thursday. The winner advances to the semifinals to face the winner of Milford vs Central City. On the other side of the C1 bracket, Lincoln Christian plays Fort Calhoun and Malcolm plays Holdrege.
