Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame 2025 Class Announced

A class of twelve athletes, five coaches, one official, and one contributor make up the 2025 Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame class.

The class will include two high school boys basketball coaches who will be inducted posthumously, Ravenna’s Paul Beranek and Gretna’s Brad Feeken.  Beranek led the Ravenna boys basketball team to the state tournament nine times in his 25 years as head coach compiling an overall record of 448-241 during that span.  The Bluejays had an amazing run between 2005 and 2012 where they won four C2 state titles (2005, 2009,2010, 2012), a runner up finish in 2006 and third place finishes in 2008 and 2011.  Beranek passed away in 2015 at the age of 55 due to cancer.

Chris Dishman (Cozad) is among the twelve athletes to be inducted.  Dishman was a two time all state selection in football and was a member of Cozad’s 1991 Class B state championship team.  Dishman went on to play college football for Nebraska and was a member of the Huskers 1994 and 1995 national championship teams.  He went on to play eight seasons in the NFL.

The class also includes athletes Shaquile Barrett (Boys Town), Deverell Biggs (Omaha Central), Alan Closter (Creighton St. Ludger), Ron Coleman (Omaha North), Karen Criss (Omah Marian), Ashley Hagerman Ford (Elkhorn), Wilburn Hollis (Boys Town), Jordan Hooper (Alliance), Chad Meyers (Omaha Gross), Darin Ruf (Omaha Westside) and Brooke Schwartz (Gering), coaches Bob Greco (Omaha Westside), Jake Moore (Omaha Marian), and Sue Wewel (Fremont), official Gary Pence (Hickman), and contributor Jack Tarr (Malcolm).
