Nebraska High School Rodeo Makes Stops in Bloomfield and O’Neill

The Nebraska high school rodeo was in Bloomfield and O’Neill for performances this past weekend.

Among the area highlights on Saturday in Bloomfield, Emmett Sortum of Taylor was runner up in the tie down roping followed by Cayson Johnston of Stapleton in third.  Johnston also had a top five finish in the steer wrestling finishing third with a time of 10.82 seconds.  Haylea Miller of Merna was runner up in the barrels with a time of 16.597 followed by Kallan Cox of Purdum in third.  Other top five area performances on Saturday included Kallan Cox of Purdum finishing third in the pole bending.  Jacie Naprstek of Gothenburg was third in goat tying and Haylea Miller of Merna placed third in the girls cutting.

Area highlights on Sunday in O’Neill included Cotter Johnston of Stapleton winning the steer wrestling in a time of 8.59 seconds and Brynne McCulley of Mullen finished runner up in the breakaway with a time of 2.3 seconds.  Other top five area finishes included Tate Johnston of Thedford 5th in the tie down roping.  Jess Fanning and Cazen Coffman-Smith of Milburn were fifth in the team roping.  Cayson Johnston of Stapleton was third in the steer wrestling.  Haylea Miller of Merna was fourth in the pole bending and Anna Clark of Thedford was fifth in the barrels.  Remi Wells of Central City and Korbin Druery of Anselmo teamed up to finish third in the team roping.
