Nebraska High School Rodeo Makes Stops in Atkinson and Valentine

Nebraska high school rodeo contestants competed at rodeos in Atkinson and Valentine during the holiday weekend.

Some of the area highlights from Saturday’s performance in Atkinson included Zachary Miller of Callaway winning the tie down roping in a winning time of 11.42 seconds and Chase Gracey was fourth in the event. Anna Clark of Thedford posted the fastest time in the barrel racing Saturday with a winning time of 19.229 seconds.  Tate Johnston of Thedford was third in the steer wrestling Saturday with a time of 12.95 seconds. Other top five area finishes on Saturday included Tallie Rambat of Burwell finishing third in the goat tying.  Haylea Miller of Merna was fourth in the girls cutting followed by Gracyn Hicks of Burwell in fifth. Karley Haake of Thedford placed fourth in the breakaway on Saturday and Kallan Cox of Purdum was fifth in the barrels.

Some of the area highlights from Sunday’s performance in Valentine included Emmett Sortum of Taylor winning the tie down roping in a time of 12.31 seconds. Zachary Miller of Callaway was third in the event followed by Tate Johnston of Thedford and Jace Rosentreader of Lexington to round out the top five. Cazen Coffman-Smith of Milburn placed first in the steer wrestling with a winning time of 6.79 seconds. Henry and Emmett Sortum of Taylor were runner up in the team roping Sunday with a time of 10.01 seconds. Other top five finishes Sunday included Jimi Fletcher of Arnold placing fourth in the barrels followed by Anna Clark of Thedford in fifth.  Haylea Miller of Merna finished in a tie for fifth in the girls cutting.
