The Nebraska High School Rodeo fall season began this past weekend with performances at Bassett on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the area highlights, Cotter Johnston of Stapleton claimed the boys all around title during Sunday’s rodeo. Johnston’s performance was highlighted by a first place finish in the steer wrestling with a winning time of 5.49 seconds and a second place finish in the tie down roping with a time of 12.08. Kelstyn Lindner of Broken Bow finished third in the boys all around standings on Sunday. Lindner produced the only qualified ride in the bull riding on Sunday with a winning score of 66 and he tied for first in the barebacks with a score of 65. Brynne McCully of Mullen was runner-up in the breakaway roping on Sunday with a time of 2.04 seconds and Tallie Rambat of Taylor was third in the event with a time of 2.06. Other top three finishes for area cowboys and cowgirls on Sunday included Aaron Hall of Halsey third in the steer wrestling. Kallan Cox of Purdum was third in both the pole bending and barrels.
Top three finishes for area cowboys and cowgirls on Saturday included Brynne McCully of Mullen and Caleb Clark of Thedford third in team roping. Kelstyn Lindner of Broken Bow placed first in the barebacks with a winning score of 72 and was third in the bull riding. Cotter Johnston of Stapleton was runner up in the steer wrestling and Kallan Cox of Purdum was third in the pole bending on Saturday.
