Nebraska High School Rodeo Contestants Make Stop in Broken Bow

The Nebraska High School Rodeo made a stop in Broken Bow over the weekend with performances Saturday and Sunday at the Custer County Fairgrounds.

Among the area highlights, Carson Cooksley of Elsmere won the steer wrestling Saturday with a winning time of 5.78 seconds and Cayson Johnston of Stapleton was the runner-up in a time of 6.03. Anna Clark of Thedford posted the winning time in the Barrel Racing on Saturday with a time of 15.345 seconds and Kallan Cox of Purdum was second in the event with a time of 15.495. Other top three finishers from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area on Saturday included Gracyn Hicks of Burwell runner up in the girls cutting, Cazen Coffman-Smith of Milburn was third in the steer wrestling and Shaylee Milleson of Dunning was third in the pole bending.

Among the area highlights on Sunday, Chase Gracey of Mullen won the tie down roping in a winning time of 12.77 seconds. Tate Johnston of Thedford teamed with JT Lantis of Hershey to win the team roping in a time of 8.87 seconds and Cayson Johnston of Stapleton was first in the steer wrestling with a time of 5.02 seconds. Other top three finishers from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area during Sunday’s performance included Gracie Pearson of Broken Bow placing 2nd in the barrel racing followed by Anna Clark of Thedford in third and Carson Cooksley of Elsmere placed third in the steer wrestling on Sunday.
