
The 2024 Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase was played Saturday at Kearney High School. The Broken Bow girls went up against Class B Seward in game four of the showcase. It was a thrilling up and down game that ended with Seward winning in overtime 68-64. The teams combined for 16 made three’s in the game. Karlee Baack of Seward scored 24 points and was named the offensive MVP of the game. Broken Bow was led by MaKinley Tobey who scored 19 points in the first half and finished with 24 for the game. Janae Marten and Halle McCaslin also finished in double figures with 13 points each. Seward improved to 6-5 on the season while Broken Bow drops to 10-2.

The SEM Mustangs faced Elmwood Murdock in the opening game of the showcase on Saturday. Elmwood Murdock knocked down eleven 3’s in the game and held SEM to their lowest scoring output of the season in a 62-29 victory. Tatum Backemeyer finished with a game high 19 points for Elmwood Murdock and was named offensive MVP. SEM was led by Taryn Arbuthnot who had a team high 12 points. It was SEM’s first loss of the season as the Mustangs are now 11-1.
