MNAC Wins Inaugural All Star Basketball Games

The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference met the Minutemen Activities Conference in a girls and boys all star basketball doubleheader Friday night in Sutherland. The game featured athletes who recently graduated from the schools that make up the two conferences. The girls all star game was won by the MNAC 75-63. The MNAC trailed by two entering the fourth quarter but outscored the MAC 25-11 in the 4th quarter to collect the win. Callaway graduate Megan Donegan of South Loup was voted the games MVP. Donegan led all scorers with 26 points and knocked down six 3’s in the game. Jaide Chandler of Anselmo-Merna and Taylor Svoboda of Mullen also scored in double figures as each finished with 15 points. The MAC all stars were led by Kailey Klein of Sioux County who finished with a team high 23 points.

In the boys all star game, the MNAC all stars overcame a double digit deficit and never led until the fourth quarter as they came back for a thrilling 77-75 victory. Liam Kostman of Hyannis was voted as the game’s MVP leading the MNAC all stars with a team high 19 points. It was a balanced offensive attack for the MNAC as five players finished in double figures. Ethan Nicholson of Sandhills Valley had 17 points, Trevor Kuncl of Mullen had 12, Wyat Lambertson and Dalton Duryea of Anselmo-Merna finished with 11 and 10 points respectively. Thomas Mulldoon of Potter Dix led all scorers with 23 points.
