The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference basketball tournament semifinals took place Thursday at North Platte Community College. The day got off to a thrilling start as Mullen and Brady went to overtime in the first of the girls semifinals with Mullen advancing to the girls championship game with a 43-39 win. Peyton Paxton led the way for the Lady Broncos with a game high 17 points and Riley Hegland finished in double figures for Mullen with 11. Brady was led by Lydia McGown who had a team high 11 points. Mullen will face top seed Anselmo-Merna in the girls championship on Saturday. AM held off Sandhills/Thedford 42-29 to advance. The Lady Coyotes were led by Shayleigh Coleman who had a big night scoring a game high 15 points. Karley Haake led the way for the Lady Knights with a team high 10 points.
Twin Loup will face top seed Sandhills Valley for the boys championship on Saturday. Twin Loup knocked off #2 seed South Loup Thursday 54-44 despite 26 points from South Loup’s Crew Witthuhn. Seven players scored for Twin Loup led by Yahya Harris and Luqman Harris who each finished with 10 points. The Wolves will face Sandhills Valley for the boys title. The top seeded Mavericks held off Sandhills/Thedford 47-40 to advance. Sandhills Valley was led by Leyton Connell who had a team high 18 points. Maurice Robinson of Sandhills/Thedford led all scorers with 26.

Girls Championship – Anselmo-Merna vs Mullen – 5:30
Boys Championship – Twin Loup vs Sandhills Valley – 7 p.m.
