Matt Rhule Officially Introduced as Nebraska Head Football Coach

Matt Rhule was officially introduced Monday as the next head football coach at the University of Nebraska. Nebraska Director of Athletics Trev Alberts made the introduction of Rhule and his family at a press conference held at the Hawks Championship Center. Alberts said that several candidates were visited with about the opportunity to be the next Nebraska football head coach but it was Rhule who was 1A on his list.

Coach Rhule admitted during his press conference that he was offered other opportunities in coaching and in broadcasting but after visiting Nebraska he said he felt the passion to coach and succeed build inside him.

Coach Rhule was asked if he has had communication with Mickey Joseph and the possibility of retaining current members of the Nebraska coaching staff.

According to reports, Rhule’s contract is for eight years worth up to $74 million, averages $9.25 million per year and includes $66.6 million in guaranteed money, athletic director Trev Alberts confirmed on Monday.

According to Rhule’s contract with Nebraska, first received by Huskers Online, the Huskers’ new coach will earn $5.5 million in year one and an additional $1 million each subsequent year — topping out at $12.5 million in 2029 and 2030.
