The Nebraska high school football season begins in full swing today. While a few games were played last week, most teams will kick off their season today.
The Broken Bow Indians will open the season tonight as they host Sidney at Mark Russell Field. Broken Bow finished last season with a 3-6 record. Sidney was the Class C1 state runner-up last season falling to Wahoo in the state championship game. Tonight’s game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com beginning with the Custer Electric and Irrigation pregame show at 6 p.m. KCNI/KBBN Sports Director Brent Apperson visited with Broken Bow head coach Carlie Wells about tonight’s game and the start of the season.
In tonight’s KBBN area game of the week, SEM hosts Stuart in six-man football. The two
teams have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years in six-man football. SEM won the six-man state championship in 2023 and then faced Stuart for the title in 2024 with Stuart winning a thriller 42-38. Both teams are expected to be strong again this season with each ranked in the top five of most preseason polls. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com beginning with the Consolidated pregame show at 6 p.m. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. KCNI/KBBN Sports Director Brent Apperson visited with SEM head coach Shane Hrasky about tonight’s matchup.
