Local Sports Calendar 2/6 – SWC Wrestling Coverage on KBBN – Mullen vs South Loup Basketball on KBBN / Video

The Southwest Conference boys wrestling championships will take place today in Holdrege. SWC member schools include Broken Bow, Holdrege, Cozad, Gothenburg, McCook, Minden, and Ogallala.
Live coverage of Broken Bow and other area matches can be heard on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Athletes will attempt to qualify this weekend for the NSAA girls state wrestling championships. Broken Bow, Arcadia/Loup City, Burwell, and Twin Loup are among the teams that will compete at the B-1 district in Plainview. Competition begins today and concludes on Saturday. Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will provide live coverage of area matches on Saturday with matches scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Ansely/Litchfield and SEM will be among the teams that will compete at B-2 district meet today and tomorrow at Lakeview High School in Columbus. Mullen, Sandhills Valley, and Sandhills/Thedford will be among the teams competing at the B-4 district at Ogallala. The top four in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament which will take place February 17th and 18th at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.

In other area wrestling action today, Arcadia/Loup City will host its boys wrestling invitational. Area teams scheduled to compete include Arcadia/Loup City, South Loup, Twin Loup, Mullen, and Burwell.

South Loup will host Mullen for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader tonight in Arnold. Tonight’s varsity games will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. A live video stream of the games, accompanied by the radio call, will be available through the Sandhills Express Facebook Page and Sandhills Express You Tube Channel. The girls varsity game is scheduled for 6 p.m. (central) with the boys game to follow.
