Kerry Ryan, daughter of Mike & Rashelle Ryan of Ansley, was named volleyball defensive player of the week by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. Ryan, a standout volleyball player for Ansley/Litchfield in high school, is a freshman at Central Community College in Columbus, NE. Central joined the ICCAC as a conference member this year.
Kerry Ryan was a force at the net this past week with 18 blocks, setting the tone for Central in their games. Against Lincoln Land, Ryan recorded six block assists in just three sets as the Raiders swept. She then also had four block assists and a solo block against Fort Scott (Kan.) in another 3-0 sweep. Despite a 3-1 loss to No. 5 Johnson County, Ryan still put up five block assists against one of the top teams in the NJCAA.
