The 25th edition of the Custer County Classic Bull Riding event took place Monday night at Trotter Arena in front of the grandstands at the Custer County Fairgrounds.
The bulls were tough to ride on Monday night as only four competitors hung on for eight seconds in the long go round. There were no qualified rides in the short go. Therefore, the champion was determined on the scores posted in the long go. This year’s champion was Hunter Tate of Weatherford, TX who posted a high score of 83 aboard the bull “Colt”. Finishing in 2nd place was area cowboy Ben Wood of Greeley, NE who posted a score of 80 on his opening ride. Third place went to Jake Maher who came all the way from Australia to compete. The Australian cowboy posted a score of 75.5.
