The Broken Bow volleyball team went 2-1 and finished fifth at the Adams Central Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Indians fell to Adams Central in the opening round 2-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-18). Broken Bow would face Doniphan-Trumbull in the consolation semifinals. Bow won 2-0 (25-17, 25-15) with Olivia Neely collecting 11 kills in the win. Broken Bow went up against Boone Central in the 5th place consolation match and won 2-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-15). Broken Bow had 35 kills in the match led by Izabelle Tibbs with 12 and Olivia Neely had 11. Broken Bow is now 9-7 on the season.
Ansley/Litchfield hosted the Spartan Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. SEM claimed the tournament championship. SEM defeated North Central in straight sets in the opening round followed by a 2-1 win over Burwell in the semifinals. The Mustangs faced Ansley/Litchfield in the title match. A/L had a bye in the first round and won in straight sets over Mullen in the semifinals. In the championship match, SEM edged A/L in straight sets 25-22, 25-22. Burwell defeated Mullen in the third place consolation match 2-1.
Brady hosted the Eagle volleyball tournament on Saturday. Brady won the tournament title winning over Maxwell in the championship match. Anselmo-Merna went 1-2 at the tournament to finish fourth. AM defeated Twin Loup in the opening round in straight sets but then fell to Maxwell in straight sets in the semifinals. The Lady Coyotes faced Arthur County in the third place consolation match. Arthur would win 2-1 winning 25-21 in the third set. Twin Loup went 1-2 in the tournament. After falling to Anselmo-Merna in the opening round, the Lady Wolves came back to defeat Sandhills Valley in the consolation semifinals 2-1. Twin Loup faced Hi-Line in the 5th place consolation match where Hi-Line won 2-0 (25-23, 25-23).
In other area action Saturday, Sandhills/Thedford was runner up at the Bertrand tournament. S/T collected wins over Loomis (2-0) and Wauneta Palisade (2-1) but fell to EMF (Exeter/Milligan/Friend) 2-0 in the title match.
