Sandhills Valley hosted a volleyball triangular with South Loup and Twin Loup in Stapleton on Thursday. Twin Loup went 2-0 to pick up their 8th and 9th wins of the season. Twin Loup defeated Sandhills Valley in straight sets 25-21, 25-19. Twin Loup defeated South Loup 2-1. Twin Loup won the first set 25-23 but South Loup came back to tie the match winning set #2 25-19. In set #3, Twin Loup would prevail 25-18. In the final match of the night, South Loup edged Sandhills Valley in two deuce games to win in straight sets 26-24, 25-23.

In area high school football Thursday night, Ansley/Litchfield picked up its first win of the season defeating Elba 43-21. The Spartans led 21-14 at the half. Elba scored early in the second half to tie the game 21-21 but it was all Ansley/Litchfield after that as the Spartans scored 22 unanswered points to secure the win. Daevon Magner had three touchdown passes for the Spartans including two to Kale Dowdy and a 50 yard TD pass to Owen Brott. Brott also had three touchdown runs to help lead Ansley/Litchfield to victory.
