Central Nebraska’s Sports Source presented a tripleheader of high school football coverage on Friday. In a top ten battle in Class D3, Twin Loup pulled away from Anselmo-Merna in the second half for a 45-12 win to remain unbeaten on the season. Twin Loup led 14-6 at halftime then extended the lead to 21-6 when Carter Hall scored on a 6 yard touchdown run. AM responded when Dane Duryea connected with Caenyn Priest on a 19 yard touchdown pass to make the score 21-12. On the next possession, Carter Hall scored his second touchdown of night busting loose for a 36 yard touchdown run to make the score 28-12 at the end of the third quarter. The score stayed that way until midway through the fourth quarter. After Anselmo-Merna blocked a Twin Loup punt to set them up at the TL 20 yard line, the Wolves defense forced a fumble which was scooped up by Zevan Wolf and returned for a 55 yard touchdown to make the score 35-12. Jackson Hall added a 39 yard field goal and Blake Bottorf scored from 3 yards out in the final five minutes to secure the win for Twin Loup. First half scoring included a one yard touchdown run by Blake Bottorf and a 24 yard pass from Yahya Harris to Oran Grint for the Wolves. Anselmo-Merna’s first half score came on a 7 yard touchdown run by Dane Duryea.
Broken Bow fell to top ten ranked Chadron in Class C1 action on Friday night 41-0.
Broken Bow and Chadron stand unified during 9/11 tribute
Chadron quarterback Tobin Landen finished with three touchdown passes and Reid Griese had touchdown runs of 85 and 65 yards to key the Cardinals victory. The Broken Bow offense was able to put some drives together including one late that went deep into Chadron territory but the Cardinals defense was able to hold the Indians out of the end zone. Broken Bow is now 1-2 on the season and will play at Cozad next week. The Haymakers are 1-2 after falling to Minden Friday night 14-9.
The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans faced Silver Lake Friday afternoon in an area six-man football matchup. Silver Lake led 13-0 at halftime but then pulled away in the second half for a 48-13 win. Silver Lake QB Tanner Vance had five touchdown passes for the Mustangs. The Spartans scored on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Daevon Magner to Owen Brott and on a 34 yard touchdown run by Brott. A/L plays at Giltner next Friday.
