The Broken Bow football team fell short in their road opener Friday night against Ogallala. Broken Bow trailed 18-0 at the half but
fought back in the third quarter. After forcing a three and out on Ogallala’s first offensive drive of the second half, Broken Bow put
together a 53 yard touchdown drive capped off by a 4 yard touchdown run by quarterback Zach Jackson to make the score 18-7. Neither team
would score after that with Ogallala holding on for the win. Broken Bow drops to 0-2 and will host St. Paul next Friday at Mark Russell
Field. St. Paul is 0-2 after falling to Raymond Central Friday night 28-26.
Twin Loup bounced back from a season opening loss to top ten ranked St. Mary’s by edging Riverside 30-28 in their home opener Friday in
Sargent. With Riverside leading 8-7, Twin Loup’s Oran Grint broke loose for a 53 yard touchdown run to put the Wolves back in front 15-8.
Twin Loup extended the lead to 22-8 but Riverside scored on a 41 yard touchdown pass on the final play of the first half to make the score
22-16 at halftime. Twin Loup extended their lead to 30-16 on a 2 yard touchdown run by Blake Bottorf with 7:36 left in the third quarter.
Riverside came back with two touchdown drives but failed on both point after attempts and trailed 30-28. After Twin Loup fumbled at the
Riverside 5 yard line with 2:35 to go in the game, the Twin Loup defense came up with a stop to preserve the win. Twin Loup improves to
1-1 while Riverside drops to 0-2.
