The Broken Bow football team collected its second win of the season Friday night shutting out O’Neill 28-0. Broken Bow marched down the field on the opening drive of the game but fumbled inside the O’Neill 20 yard line. The Bow defense responded with a three and out and on the ensuing punt O’Neill punter Landon Classen was tackled just outside the five yard line. The Indians took over inside the O’Neill 10 yard line and scored two plays later on a Connor Wells 7 yard touchdown run. Broken Bow controlled the game the rest of the way. Eli Coble scored on a 39 yard touchdown run with 8:32 left in the first half to put Broken Bow up 14-0 which is where the score stood at halftime. Broken Bow scored on their opening two drives of the 2nd half as Connor Wells scored on an 18 yard touchdown run with 8:12 to go in the third quarter and Eli Coble broke loose for a 55 yard touchdown run with 3:46 left in the third to put Broken Bow up 28-0. Neither team would score in the fourth as Broken Bow evens their overall record to 2-2. The Indians travel to Cozad next Friday to begin district play.
In a battle of 1-2 teams, Burwell held off Ansley/Litchfield 24-14. Titus Gideon ran for a touchdown and connected with Gus Elliott for two touchdown passes to lead the Longhorns offense. Leyton Rohde ran for a touchdown and had a touchdown pass for Ansley/Litchfield. Burwell will host Elm Creek next Friday while Ansley/Litchfield will host Twin Loup in Litchfield.
