Broken Bow picked up its third win of the season outscoring Holdrege 19-0 in the second half to secure a 26-7 win on Friday. Broken Bow opened the game with a 75 yard touchdown drive capped off by a 2 yard touchdown run by Zach Jackson to take an early 7-0 lead. Holdrege would later tie the game 7-7 which was the score at halftime. With 7:28 left in the third quarter, the Indians came up with a two play sequence that completely turned the game in Broken Bow’s favor. The first play was a 51 yard reverse pass for a touchdown as Dominic Nowak hooked up with Coy Wardyn on 3rd and 19 to give Broken Bow a 14-7 lead. On the next offensive play, Aidan Markham intercepted Holdrege quarterback Landon Hartzog and returned it 40 yards for a pick six to extend Broken Bow’s lead to 20-7. Ayden Clark scored from 1 yard out with 4:50 left in the 4th quarter to secure the win and make the final score 26-7. Broken Bow is now 3-3 on the season, 1-1 in district play, and will host Minden next Friday night for homecoming.
Central Valley improved to 5-1 on the season with a 58-13 win over Twin Loup Friday night. The top ranked Cougars were led by quarterback Zaden Wolf who finished with 2 passing touchdowns and 4 rushing touchdowns. Twin Loup’s scores came on a 65 yard fumble return for a touchdown by Owen Grint and a 3 yard touchdown run by Carter Hall. The Wolves are now 2-4 on the season and will play at Anselmo-Merna next Friday. AM is now 2-4 after holding off Burwell Friday 28-24. The Twin Loup vs AM game next Friday will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM.
