In an all area battle Friday afternoon, Twin Loup led Anselmo-Merna 15-6 at halftime then pulled away in the second half for a 38-20 win. Twin Loup’s Garrett Hasenauer had touchdown runs of 53 and 56 yards and quarterback Yayah Harris hooked up with Luqman Harris on touchdown passes of 29 and 27 yards to lead the Wolves offensive attack. Yayah Harris also had a 2 yard touchdown run in the first half. Anselmo-Merna’s Dane Duryea had a 45 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter and a 6 yard touchdown pass to Caenyn Priest in the first half. Josiah Griffith had a 3 yard touchdown run late in the 4th quarter for the Coyotes. Twin Loup improves to 3-4 on the season and AM drops to 2-5. Twin Loup concludes the regular season at home against Burwell next Friday while Anselmo-Merna will play at Palmer next Friday.
Broken Bow fell just short in picking up a victory on homecoming night as Minden held off the Indians in the second half for a 21-14 win. Minden jumped out early scoring on a 52 yard touchdown pass on their first offensive play of the game. The Whippets then took advantage of a short field following a Broken Bow turnover to go up 14-0. The score remained that way until the Broken Bow defense forced a fumble that was returned by Zach Jackson to inside the Minden 20 yard line. Jackson would then hook up with Dominic Nowak on a 15 yard touchdown pass to bring Bow to within 14-7. Minden was able to answer when Parker Hatch broke loose for a 66 yard touchdown run to put the Whippets back up by 14. The Indians were able to score with 3:49 left in the game as Zach Jackson hooked up with Dominic Nowak for their second touchdown of the night to make the score 21-14. That would be as close as Broken Bow would get as Minden was able to run out the clock and preserve the win. Broken Bow is now 3-4 on the season and will host Central City next Friday at Mark Russell Field.
