Today marks another big high school football Friday around the area. Broken Bow goes back on the road tonight as they travel to Holdrege to take on the Dusters. Broken Bow is on a current four game winning streak and is now 4-1 on the season. Broken Bow head coach Carlie Wells visited with KCNI/KBBN sports this week about tonight’s matchup. When asked what the focus has been in practice this week, coach Wells said getting better on the offensive line and eliminating “self inflicted” mistakes.
“We really feel that our offensive line can block better than what we’ve shown so far this year. We see it in practice. We just got to put it all together on the field. We’ve got to eliminate these self inflicted mistakes. False starts are huge, dropping the ball on the snap. If we can eliminate those things, because those are things we can control, our offense is pretty good.”
Tonight’s district tilt between Broken Bow and Holdrege will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. Coverage begins with the Custer Federal State Bank pregame show. Kickoff is scheduled for 7.

Today’s KBBN area game of the week features the SEM Mustangs in six man football. After making it to the state semifinals last year, SEM is off to another strong start this season. The Mustangs are 4-0 after a come from behind win over previously unbeaten Wilcox Hildreth last week. When asked what the key has been to this year’s success, SEM head coach Shane Hrasky told KCNI/KBBN sports it has been the play of their front three on both sides of the ball.
“Definitely our front three on both sides of the ball, offense and defense. Those guys up front have been working their tails off this year. On offense they’ve been blocking real well and catching the ball when we need them to. Our defense has played great this season. It starts with the front three. Those guys up front have done a real good job this year.”
Today SEM will face 3-1 Harvard for an afternoon kickoff in Sumner. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM with coverage beginning shortly after 2 p.m. with the Consolidated pre game show. Kickoff is scheduled for 3.
