Arcadia/Loup City hosted Anselmo-Merna for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader Tuesday night in Loup City. The Anselmo-Merna girls held on for a thrilling 49-47 win to improve to 2-1 on the season. AM led 44-34 in the fourth quarter thanks to eight fourth quarter points off the bench from Lily Thornton to start the period. Arcadia/Loup City fought back though. Trailing by two, the Rebels came up with a steal in the final ten seconds but a shot to tie it in the final seconds fell short as AM held on for the victory. Anselmo-Merna was led by Makenna Miller who had a game high 16 points and Shaylyn Safranek also finsihed in double figures with 12. ALC was led by Eva Jaixen and Tatum Kapustka who each finished with a team high 13 points. On the boys side, Arcadia/Loup City jumped out to an early lead and never trailed on their way to collecting their first win of the season 59-29. Isaiah Santos led the Rebels with 17 points and Hayden Griffith also finished in double figures with 14. Anselmo-Merna was led by Quinten Myers who had a team high 13 points.
