SEM hosted Sandhills/Thedford for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader on Saturday. The girls game featured a battle of unbeatens. SEM would hold off Sandhills/Thedford 43-34 to remain unbeaten. Taryn Arbuthnot led the Mustangs with 13 points. Jacelyn Hoos also finished in double figures with 11. Sandhills/Thedford was led by Jaylen Dimmitt who had a team high 13 points. Laney Dahlberg also finished in double figures for S/T with ten points. SEM improved to 8-0. Sandhills/Thedford is now 5-1. The boys game had to go extra time to determine a winner. Sandhills/Thedford prevailed in overtime 61-52 to remain unbeaten and improve to 6-0 on the season. The Knights were led by Kyle Cox who had a game high 21 points. Maurice Robinson also finished in double figures for S/T with 17. SEM was led by Cohen Rohde who had a team high 18 points. Jace Rosentreader also finished in double figures for the Mustangs with 12 points. SEM is now 4-3.
Broken Bow traveled to St. Paul for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader on Saturday. In the girls game, Broken Bow jumped out quick outscoring St. Paul 27-3 in the opening quarter to take control on their way to a 61-23 win. Seven players scored for the Lady Indians led by MaKinley Tobey who had a game high 21 points. Halle McCaslin also finished in double figures with 17. Broken Bow improves to 5-1 on the season. In the boys game, Broken Bow led for the majority of the first three quarters but St. Paul would outscore Broken Bow 21-6 in the final eight minutes to come back and claim a 42-28 win. Broken Bow was led by Evan Cyboron who had a team high 10 points. Gavin Carrizales hit two 3’s and finished with 8 points for the Indians.
