Broken Bow traveled to Lexington Tuesday for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader. The Broken Bow girls collected its 11th win of the season with a 47-15 victory. The Lady Indians held Lexington scoreless is the opening quarter and led 29-6 at the half. Nine players scored for Broken Bow as they improve their overall record to 11-5. The Lady Indians were led by MaKinley Tobey who had a game high 13 points and Gaby Staples also finished in double figures with 11. In the boys game, Lexington defeated Broken Bow 68-47. Lexington went on an 8-0 run to close out the first half to build a 32-22 halftime lead then pulled away in the second half for the victory. Broken Bow made nine 3’s in the game led by Roman Schmidt who made five of them and finished with a team high 15 points. Also finishing in double figures for Bow were Coy Wardyn who finished with 12 points and Ryan Jackson finished with 11. Broken Bow will travel to Ainsworth on Thursday to make up games that were postponed earlier in the season.
Ansley/Litchfield and SEM both advanced to the semifinals of the Fort Kearny Conference boys basketball tournament. Ansley/Litchfield defeated Pleasanton 57-46 to advance. The Spartans will face top seed Amherst in the semifinal round. Amherst defeated Hi-Line in quarters 75-48. SEM defeated Loomis 55-43 to advance to the conference tournament semi’s. SEM will face the #2 seed Elm Creek who defeated Axtell 66-37 to advance. The boys semifinals will take place Friday at Holdrege high school.
