Broken Bow traveled to Valentine for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader on Friday night. The Broken Bow girls team collected its 12th win of the season. Broken Bow led by eight at halftime but pulled away in the second half for a 54-33 win. Janae Marten and Gaby Staples each scored a game high 17 points to lead the Lady Indians. Broken Bow will host McCook on Tuesday in the opening round of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament at the Indian gym. In the boys game, Broken Bow jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter but Valentine held Broken Bow to just four points in the second quarter as the Badgers came back to lead 24-20 at the half. Dominic Nowak hit a three for Broken Bow to start the third quarter to pull Bow to within one but Valentine answered quickly and never trailed in the second half on their way to a 57-48 win. Broken Bow was led by Nowak who finished with a team high 18 points. Zach Jackson also finished in double figures for the Indians with 10. Broken Bow will play top seed Ogallala on the road Tuesday in the opening round of the Southwest Conference Tournament.
