Broken Bow traveled to Gothenburg for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader on Thursday night. In the girls game, Broken Bow led 19-16 after the first quarter but was held scoreless in the second quarter as Gothenburg built a 31-19 lead at the half. The Swedes pulled away in the second to collect their 12th win of the season 69-41. Broken Bow was led by Halle Quinn who finished with a team high 15 points. In the boys game, Gothenburg outscored Broken Bow 26-9 in the second quarter to take control on their way to a 68-47 win. Broken Bow was led by Kyan Tobey who knocked down four 3’s in the second half and finished with a team high 16 points. Broken Bow will compete in the opening round of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament on Tuesday. Broken Bow and Gothenburg will face each other again in the opening round of the boys tournament at Gothenburg and the Broken Bow girls will play at Minden. The Broken Bow / Minden girls game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m.
Ansley/Litchfield hosted South Loup for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader Tuesday night in Ansley. The night began with a thrilling girls game that went to overtime. In the end, Ansley/Litchfield claimed the win 43-42. Ansley/Litchfield was led by Caydence Feldman who finished with a game high 15 points and South Loup was led by Neltje Reiff who scored a team high 8 points. In the boys game, South Loup jumped out quickly outscoring Ansley/Litchfield 20-6 in the first quarter on their way to a 67-21 win. The Bobcats were led by Crew Witthuhn who finished with a game high 26 points. Conner Paulsen finished with 15 points and Dylan Pandorf had 12 for South Loup. Ansley/Litchfield was led by Owen Cunningham who finished with eight points.
